October 2008 Meeting

Bio-dynamic Gardening & Agriculture

Who: Janet Ablitt

Janet has been interested in conservation, regeneration of the bush and biodynamic principles for many years. She is a member of the Biodynamic Gardeners Association Inc. (B.D.G.A.I.) and has been on its committee since 1986. She is also the B.D.G.A.I.'s Librarian and conducts field days, liaises and advises skilled Farmers on new developments and techniques in biodynamics

Biodynamics is an advanced form of organic agriculture which was introduced by Dr. Rudolf Steiner in 1924. Dr. Steiner was an Austrian Scientist/Philosopher who had deep insight into nature and into many other areas of human endeavour. Janet believes that in shopping for our food, we need to choose between that which is grown in a spiritual and thoughtful way, enlivening the soil as it grows, instead of mass produced commercially grown products. Understanding biodynamics helps us with these decisions.
