Who: Ken Barrett has a diplomain Applied Chemistry and has done further studies in Physics and Mathematics to add to his knowledge.
What: The topic of this months meeting is titled "Forming & Transforming of Geometric Shapes."
Some ten years ago, and already curious about geometric shapes and their mathematics, Ken read a fascinating book by Francis Hitching, which described Russian work on the World Energy Grid, the Dodeca Hedron and the Earths'Tectonic Plates which further inspired him.
Five years of research later, Ken was able to mathematically and physically model a wide variety of shapes. On close inspection, he found them to follow the rules of the golden ratio. Ken currently has 32 shapes which he will exhibit on the night.
His presentation will focus on;
